WHAT BREED OF DOG WILL TLCA BE TRAINING AS SERVICE DOGS?

TLCA will be working with Australian Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Havanese breeds.

What can I excpect from a Service Dog from TLCA?

  • Service dog puppies stay with your Certified Dog Trainer, arriving with the trainer at the young age of 8-12 weeks, staying for 6 months for a total of 24 weeks of specialized puppy training for optimal success.
  • Safe, effective, and professionally guided socialization and exposure at local pet stores, home hardware stores, pet-friendly malls, and businesses, including at each visit training sessions for basic life skills training such as sit, down, stay on location. Puppy will be fully house-trained and kennel-trained, creating a safe zone for future traveling. 
  • Three sets of group dog training classes for life skills training and leash manners training, including socialization and exposure to dogs and people 
  • Veterinary care for exam, vaccines, and deworming medication for three visitations at 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age 
  • Dog toys, chews, 6 ft nylon leash, slide and release collar with harness provided during the entire stay, and goes home with puppy when their stay is completed with Service Dog vest.
  • Grooming for two sessions, including bath, blow dry, and trimming, and on-going nail trims through their stay.
  • When the puppy is ready, service training will commence at around the age of five to six months and continue throughout their stay.
  • Groomer, Veterinarian, nutrition, and pet store resources and references for future use for the puppy.
  • Dog to dog socialization and exposure with friendly dogs, creating bite inhibition with respect and use of a soft mouth, and accurate use of teeth.
  • Weekly reports with pictures and a full diary of how the puppy is progressing and transitioning through puppyhood and into service dog training.
  • Three different setup photography sessions with backdrops. Who doesn’t love puppy pictures?!

Can I visit my Service Dog in training?

Of course! We can set up Facetime, ZOOM, WhatsAPP or in person visits when we are out for Public Access training and group dog training classes.

Can my puppy start Service Dog training at six months or older?

Yes! Highly recommended to start training your Service Dog earlier over later as behavior concerns add extra cost to training.

Is there a payment plan available?

Absolutely! Let’s work together to find payment options that work for YOU. Weekly and monthly payment options are available.

Does this training program include the cost of the puppy?

The cost of the puppy is not included in the program. When you find a breeder, you are required to sign their contract as the owner of the dog.

Can we choose another breed of dog for Service Dog training?

Yes! Opportunity to work with other breeds by request. All puppies are required to be selected from the breeder for optimal placement for purpose of Service Dog training including Volhard Puppy Aptitude testing.

Will this training program guarantee the puppy will be suited for Service Dog training?

Nothing in life is guaranteed! This training program is designed with the client in mind with highest rate of optimal success when raised with a qualified Certified Dog trainer and working with the breeder.
