Puppy Manners Class Level Two Winnipeg Dog Top

Puppy Manners Level Two is taught with a clicker. A clicker is a little plastic box with a piece of metal (tongue) that makes a clicking sound when pushed and released. Clickers mark any behaviors we like and lets the dog know by clicking desired behaviors. The click = human word “yes” or “that’s correct”. Clickers create a relationship with clicker and food.

Don't have a clicker? NO PROBLEM. Just 'mark' the behavior with a reward marker such as YES. Just feeding at the correct time is also just fine.

Class Description:

  • Drop it and Take it Exercises

Nose Work and Canine Enrichment

Training Loyal Companions is pleased to announce a new educational training class Nose Work and Canine Enrichment Training.

Did you know quality socialization starts with their senses?

Did you know its more important to have a well balanced socialized dog than a perfectly obedient dog?

These training classes are all about using your dogs senses to provide socialization: Sight (vision), hearing (audition), taste (gestation), smell (olfaction), and touch (somatosensation) are the five traditionally recognized senses.

Environmental enrichment is the stimulation of the brain by its physical and social surroundings. Environmental enrichment is the process of making the animal’s living space interesting and stimulating so as to decrease boredom and its subsequent problems. Making things more interesting for your dog isn’t hard. However, you do need to be creative and vary what you do. If you do the same thing every day, that too can quickly become boring.

By setting up an enrichment room or area, your dog can explore as much as possible in the presence of other dogs and items on the floor for exploration with their senses. We want to build your dogs curiosity, and let them explore at their own pace, always being the dogs choice. We build curiosity by using different objects for your dog to explore, creating mental stimulation. By building curiosity, we are building new brain cells.

Enrichment Rooms and Senses Socialization will help with self confidence (great for shy and unsure dogs), improve coordination, build social skills for coping with the world now and into adulthood, mental and physical health to last a life time.

In this training class we will work your dogs nose with:

  • Interactive puzzle toys
  • Treat balls
  • A wide variety of FIND IT! nose work games!

Reactive Dog Training Classes

Training Loyal Companions is pleased to announce a REACTIVE DOG TRAINING CLASS starting September 2019!

Reactive Dog Training Class is designed to help you walk your reactive dog on leash in the neighbor hood and out at public every day settings. Reactive dogs are growly, snapping, lunging at other dogs and people including children and cars, showing excessive signs of stress and anxiety.

Our training techniques are updated to today's most recent skills, by using desensitization and counter conditioning training techniques and positive reinforcement. We are changing your dogs association from a negative association to a positive association, while decreasing stress and anxiety levels. This program is designed using treats, verbal praise, interrupt and redirect training techniques.

We DO NOT use pinch collar, choke chains, spray bottles, muzzle holding, hitting your dog - or any other training techniques outdated and using to create fear or miss trust with humans.

Reactive Dog Training - Part One

  • This three week training class is designed for human education! We will teach and discuss topics such as:
  • Understanding reactivity in dogs and getting in depth as to the reasons why this behavior exists.
  • What is counter conditioning and desensitization and how will this help my dog?
  • Understanding keeping your dog sub threshold and why its an important part of the training program.
  • Canine Communication and understanding stress signals, displacement behaviors and calming signals.
  • Basic training techniques such as impulse control and connection work such as eye contact.
  • Re orientation exercises such as toys and touch target work.
  • After each session handouts and training videos provided with homework to conquer.

After three training sessions, you will have a much better understanding of your dogs behaviors decreasing human levels of stress, frustration and anxiety. Together we will come up with a training program to help you dog extinguish reactive dog behaviors.
