Thank you for your continued support, understanding and flexibility! - Christie Golebiowski Business Owner and Certified Dog Trainer

Hello FURiends for the upcoming training classes,

Starting on Monday October 19 and continuing until Monday November 2, 2020 - the Manitoba Government changed the public gatherings from 10 persons to 5 persons.

New COVID-19 public health orders were issued for the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region by the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer on October 19, 2020. These orders come into effect at 11 p.m. on October 19, 2020 and remain in effect until 11 p.m. on November 2, 2020. These orders replace the orders issued on October 7, 2020. Under the new orders:

  • The maximum size of gatherings is reduced to five people. This applies to ceremonies such as weddings and funerals and social events like banquets and receptions, as well as informal gatherings such as dinners and house parties.
This created quite a bit a change to the group dog training classes, as I was required to split my classes into two or even three smaller classes, with three or four dogs.

As of right now, all my training classes are at full regular capacity for the Puppy Manners Level One Sundays (9 dogs at one person per dog with one trainer = 10 people). I will be required to split my classes again to two or three classes (4 dogs at one person per dog with one trainer = 5 people).

Since the new gathering order, I have been complying with the 5-person training classes. It does decrease the distractions, exposure, socialization for the group dog training classes.

Here is my currently plan for my group dog training classes for Sunday November 1 (Puppy Manners Level One, Puppy Manners Level Two, Puppy Foundations):

HOLD FOR ONE WEEK

This will give us the opportunity to see if the Government will increase the numbers back to a 10-person gathering to create a full training class of 9 dogs. I am skeptical, but I want to give this a chance.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Training classes starting Sunday November 1 will now start Sunday November 8 and continue for one extra week until Sunday December 13 (Sunday November 8, 15, 22, 29, December 6 and 13th).

WHAT IF THEY DO NOT INCREASE THE GATHERINGS TO 10 PEOPLE?
I will need to re do my entire schedule and split the classes into two or three again for a 4-dog maximum training class. This would include time changes for Sundays such as classes at 9:00AM, 10:00AM, 11:00AM etc. I might also need to add an extra day of training classes for another weekday.

If you have received this email, it is because you are signed up for training classes starting Sunday November 1. If you would like to cancel your classes and hold until a later date - please let me know!

You will receive an additional email when I know better of the gatherings and new COVID 19 updates, sometime between Monday November 2 and Wednesday November 4th.

Thank you so very much for your patience and understanding! - Christie Golebiowski Business Owner and Certified Dog Trainer

Puppy Foundations

** Starting September 2020 ** Welcome to our NEW puppy foundations training class! This class is designed for puppies 8- 12 weeks of age.

There is so much your dog is learning during their puppy hood. From 8 weeks of age, when they first come home, puppies will respond to gentle touch and tone of voice. Puppies will go through developmental stages such as fear impact periods, cutting their adult teeth around the age of 4 months, and the famous teenage years - a lack of listening skills and testing human patience can become frustrating.

In this Puppy Foundations training class we will:

  • Understand relationship building with your new canine companion, establish leadership between dog, humans and children.
  • Prevention of behavior problems such as jumping on people and children, excessive barking and jumping on the counter or table for food.
  • Understanding how to create positive associations with kennels using very easy and simple to understand training techniques.
  • Understanding the basics of house training, eliminating accidents in the house.
  • Education on the importance of socialization, exposure and exploring their senses.
  • Understanding canine communication and how dogs talk.
  • Loose leash walking techniques
  • Recall training: A valuable life saving skill and taught cue for every dog to know.
  • Education on biting, mouthing and chewing - by teaching proper chewing items creating bite inhibition.
  • Each class is filled with exposure to a wide variety of different textures, sights, sounds and smells.
  • Each training class offers off leash play time for puppies, with continued education on how puppies play and different play styles.

Format: One class once a week for three weeks. Each class is 1 hour long.  Each class will have 8-9 puppies.

Cost: Cost for all three training sessions is $75.00 plus GST = $78.75

Each new canine companion is required to have one DAPP vaccines administered by the age of 8 weeks of age. All puppies will be pre-screened on their history and previous lived environments before attending this training class.

This class is an excellent option for first time dog owners, before starting the Puppy Manners Level One training classes.

Nose Work and Canine Enrichment

Training Loyal Companions is pleased to announce a new educational training class Nose Work and Canine Enrichment Training.

Did you know quality socialization starts with their senses?

Did you know its more important to have a well balanced socialized dog than a perfectly obedient dog?

These training classes are all about using your dogs senses to provide socialization: Sight (vision), hearing (audition), taste (gestation), smell (olfaction), and touch (somatosensation) are the five traditionally recognized senses.

Environmental enrichment is the stimulation of the brain by its physical and social surroundings. Environmental enrichment is the process of making the animal’s living space interesting and stimulating so as to decrease boredom and its subsequent problems. Making things more interesting for your dog isn’t hard. However, you do need to be creative and vary what you do. If you do the same thing every day, that too can quickly become boring.

By setting up an enrichment room or area, your dog can explore as much as possible in the presence of other dogs and items on the floor for exploration with their senses. We want to build your dogs curiosity, and let them explore at their own pace, always being the dogs choice. We build curiosity by using different objects for your dog to explore, creating mental stimulation. By building curiosity, we are building new brain cells.

Enrichment Rooms and Senses Socialization will help with self confidence (great for shy and unsure dogs), improve coordination, build social skills for coping with the world now and into adulthood, mental and physical health to last a life time.

In this training class we will work your dogs nose with:

  • Interactive puzzle toys
  • Treat balls
  • A wide variety of FIND IT! nose work games!
  • Canine Enrichment areas and rooms, how they work and how to set one up in your home!

This class is limited to 8 dogs with one experienced dog trainer. Each training class is 45 minutes in length. Dogs must be friendly with other dogs on and off leash, up to date with vaccines. This class is a 4 week training class

Costs: $85.00 plus GST = $89.25

THIS CLASS IS ON HOLD UNTIL SPRING 2021
